The School of Media Studies at the New School presents Understanding Media Studies a lecture series that functions not only as a communal orientation experience for its first-semester Masters of Arts cohort, but also as an intellectual and creative “hub” for the entire School. Panel: Collaboration in Interactive Cinema

Hirshon Artist-in-Residence Toni Dove will discuss the processes and challenges of working together to create embodied hybrids of film, installation art and experimental theater with collaborators R. Luke DuBois, Art Jones, Leif Krinkle and Karen Young. Reception will follow.

Showcase: Projects and Prototypes

Students from the School of Media Studies will share projects that use or are inspired by the interactive cinema engine developed for Toni Dove’s Spectropia, a cinema-scale live-mix movie performance. Introduction with discussion of new work in progress by Toni Dove. Reception will follow.
