(Entrance at 66 West 12th Street)
This event is free and open to the public.
Come celebrate the voices of emerging youth media makers through an innovative participatory media program initiated in New York City this year. Selected high school students from different neighborhoods, worked together in workshops to perceive and explore their urban landscape, using sound and moving images for creative and experimental expression. They later engaged on a range of social justice issues including school closures, urban farming and other untold stories from around New York City through an intensive externship in collaboration with mentors.

This event is a unique opportunity to see the youth present their externship work publicly for the first time. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by Simin Farkhondeh, Educational Director at Democracy Now!
The event is sponsored by the School of Media Studies at The New School for Public Engagement. The work showcased emerged through The Video Lab’s Community Externship Program this spring, supported by the School of Media Studies.
