Laura Thies (MA 2008) and Mara Lesemann (BA 2007) – “Surviving Family” Featured at the Woods Hole Film Festival
“Surviving Family” is a feature film written and produced by Mara Leseman (BA 2007) and directed and edited by Laura Thies (MA 2008), both alums of The New School and the School of Media Studies. It was featured earlier this month in the Woods Hole Film Festival, and came in as Runner Up for the Best Narrative Feature Category.

Director and Editor – Laura Thies
Laura Thies, a native German, is a young actor and filmmaker, who is making her feature film debut. Recent credits include Foreclosed, Jump Start, Angle of Vision and The Tie. She received a BFA in Musical Theater, a Certificate in Screen Writing, a Certificate in 16mm Film Production, an MA in Media Studies and an MA in International Affairs from the New School.
Producer and Writer – Mara Lesemann
Mara Lesemann‘s recent credits include the short thriller Foreclosed, The Seduction of Eve, and Jump Start. Theater credits include A Temporary Cat and The Fertility Factor, both of which she produced off-off-Broadway. She received a BA in Media Studies and Film, with a concentration in Screenwriting, from the New School.
