World Film Locations: Mumbai

Helio SanMiguel’s edited book on the cinematic representation of Mumbai – World Film Locations: Mumbai – has been published by Intellect, distributed by the University of Chicago Press, and is now available for purchase.

A few words from Helio about the book:

Indian cinema is not very well known outside academic circles beyond a few stereotypes on Bollywood and a few arthouse directors, but it’s actually the first in the world in number of features and spectators, and second in revenue. More importantly it’s one of the most multifaceted and vibrant cinemas in the world today and it deserves much more recognition. In fact, I believe the new and brilliant generation of Indian filmmakers that is now emerging will soon become a much more frequent presence in Western festivals and markets.
