Tropfest Call for Entries – One Week until Filmmaker Deadline!
Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival, returns to New York on June 22!
After a hugely successful debut in 2012, which saw a crowd of 10,000+ for a summer day/night filled with music, films and entertainment, Tropfest will once again bring its unique film festival to New York City – this time to Prospect Park, Brooklyn hosted by acclaimed actor, producer, director, and screenwriter Liev Schreiber.
Last year’s winning filmmaker, Josh Leake from Portland, OR won $20,000. This year, that could be you!
Tropfest is inviting filmmakers of all backgrounds and levels of experience to get out there and start making short films for the festival. The winner will take home $20,000 cash and be set up with a ‘week of meetings’ with film execs, agents, managers, and other industry professionals in Los Angeles
Simple Entry Guidelines (Please see our website for full details):
Films must be:
* No longer than 7 minutes (including titles and credits);
* Made specifically for Tropfest NY 2013 and be a world premiere (including online); and
* Include the Tropfest Signature Item, which for 2013 is ‘Bridge’ (which can be included in any way the filmmaker chooses).
There are no budget restrictions for Tropfest, since films are judged on the strength of the idea rather than for ‘production value’. (Many of the best Tropfest films cost a few dollars and are shot on mobile phones!
The finalist films will screen at the Tropfest NY main event on Saturday, June 22 and be judged by an industry and celebrity panel LIVE in front of thousands of independent film-lovers. Last year’s judges included: Rose Byrne, Judah Friedlander, Jennifer Westfeldt, Scott Foundas and Ted Hope.
Everyone has a story to tell, the time has come to tell yours…
Entry deadline extended to May 16.
