TNS CryptoParty – Hang Out, Learn How To Encrypt Your Email
Tuesday, November 12
Two Sessions! 6pm & 7pm
55 West 13th St, 2nd Floor, Room 205
What’s a CryptoParty? People getting together to learn basic online privacy tools. It’s free, it’s social, it’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s useful. CryptoParties have been held in Sydney, Melbourne, Berlin, Cairo, Tel Aviv and now The New School, on Tuesday, November 12th.
We’ll learn how to send and receive encrypted email. Bring your computer and a willingness to learn! Knowing how to use encrypted email was a key reason New School alumni Laura Poitras was able to secure Edward Snowden’s NSA leaks.
“I was surprised to realize that there were people in news organizations who didn’t recognize any unencrypted message sent over the Internet is being delivered to every intelligence service in the world.” – Edward Snowden
