Call for Entries: Uni Shorts 2014

JUST A REMINDER we are Calling for Entries for Uni Shorts 2014 and the Early Bird deadline is approaching on 28 February. Don’t miss out! Last year’s festival in Auckland saw a record number of international entries and a new category for New Zealand Secondary School film-makers. This year’s festival promises to be even bigger.

Uni Shorts 2014 is open to all film schools, animation/design schools, universities, polytechnic, tertiary undergrad and postgrad students, and New Zealand secondary school media studies students. Win cash prizes and more!

1. Enter online now at www.unishorts.unitec.ac.nz

Entry fees:

Received on/before Early-Bird Date 28 February: $30 per film/$80, 3 or more films

Received on/before Final Deadline 28 March:  $40 per form/$100, 3 or more films

* Free entry for NZ Secondary (High Schools) only.

Please ensure you mark your package for customs clearance with ‘No Commercial Value’; For film festival. We will accept all film entries postmarked on or before the deadline dates.

2 (ii) Or you can send your film via a secure Vimeo link:

i) English subtitles for foreign language films must be embedded

ii) Formatted to 1080 or 720HD

iii) It is a link that we can download from on our end.

3. Email to unishorts@unitec.ac.nz; a synopsis/tagline & production credits for your film, and a brief director’s bio (80 words max) and director’s head shot photo.

Films must be entirely student-made as part of a course of study and not be longer than 20 minutes in duration. We accept short films made between November 2012 – January 2014.

Entry categories:

* Fiction

* Non-Fiction (Documentary)

* Animation

* Non-Narrative (Experimental)

* High School (New Zealand only / Open genre)

We accept the following formats only:

DVD PAL/Multizone

Blu-ray Zone B

Ratio must be 16×9

English subtitles must be embedded with all foreign (non-English) films
