Media Studies Students Interviewed for BK Live TV

Last week, School of Media Studies graduate students Alissa Cherry and Ateqah Khaki appeared on BK Live, a daily “hyperlocal” talk show based out of the BRIC Arts Media House that highlights news and stories from Brooklyn neighborhoods. The segment was produced by Sriyanka Ray, a production intern at Brooklyn Independent Media who is also a graduate student in the program, and focused on two different youth media initiatives that Alissa and Ateqah are involved with as a part of their studies. Alissa runs film making and photography teen program in Coney Island called ACTION with the Coney Island Generation Gap and the Brighton Beach Shorefront Y and UJA-Federation, and Ateqah is a part of youth media education project engaging newly immigrated Arab American youth through The New School’s Engage Media Lab in partnership with the Arab American Family Support Center.
