Nitin Sawhney Launches Kickstarter Campaign for Guatemala Después
Guatemala Después is an emerging artistic and curatorial collaboration between The New School and Ciudad de la Imaginación.The project will culminate into artistic works showcased in a digital collection platform, site-specific public engagement, joint exhibitions and public programming hosted at the Sheila Johnson Design Center (SJDC) in New York City from April 9-29, 2015 and in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala in June 2015.
This project has an experimental, inclusive and participatory approach towards engaging creative practitioners and the general public using multi-disciplinary forms of investigation and expression including visual, sound, film, performance, poetry and narrative. The curatorial team selected a dozen multi-disciplinary artistic projects being developed collaboratively by over 40 emerging and established Guatemalan and US-based artists.
It is a collaborative project that seeks to support site-specific artistic investigations that may reveal, activate, provoke or transform the ways in which we understand historic memory, repression, healing and forms of utopia or dystopia emerging in Guatemala.
