Job Opportunity: GreenThumb
Looking for New School students to work pro bono on a documentary project with GreenThumb. GreenThumb is a department of NYC Parks Department which provides programming and material support to over 600 community gardens and more than 20,000 garden members in New York City. GreenThumb gardens are located in all five boroughs in the city. The project will revolve around our annual Grow Together Conference. As a result of growth in gardens and the community, GreenThumb organized a day where the public could learn more about community gardeners and gardening, thus creating the GreenThumb GrowTogether. The GrowTogether officially kicks off the community gardening season in New York City. The GrowTogether is typically well-attended by over 1,200 gardeners from throughout the city. The day will be jam-packed with 60 workshops on garden-related topics. These workshops cover a wide range of topics, such as: composting, kid’s activities, vegetable growing techniques, and ways to increase garden membership.
The conference will be held on March 19, 2016 from 8:30AM-4PM at Hostos Community College in the Bronx. The student(s) that are interested in working with us are not required to stay for the whole event, but are more than welcome to. As part of working with us, the student(s) can attend the workshop for free, get breakfast and lunch, and a thank you gift.
Experience documenting large events, interviewing skills, and video editing skills are required.
