NOW HIRING: The HAC Is Looking for a Part-Time Media Coordinator
The Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College is looking for a leadership-oriented and dependable Part-Time Media Coordinator (20 to 25 Hours/Week) who can lead the expansion of the Center’s public impact and media presence, both online and in print. We seek someone passionate about the power of ideas to provoke thinking and elevate our public discourse. The Media Coordinator will assume a leadership role in crafting an exciting image of the Arendt Center with features on our blog and social media that make the case for the importance of provocative and bold thinking in our political and ethical worlds. While the Media Coordinator will need to be at Bard College for major events, this job may be done remotely and the Media Coordinator can live and work remotely.
The Media Coordinator’s duties include:
A leadership role in developing, writing, editing, and managing the Arendt Center Blog, which includes coordinating with contributing writers and writing short blog posts.
Creating unique email marketing campaigns for each Arendt Center Lecture using Constant Contact and social media including Twitter and Facebook.
Organizing and promoting as well as tweeting each month’s virtual reading group meeting, which includes sending out reminders to participants.
Overseeing video media interns who are responsible for filming and editing HAC events.
Developing a strategy to make our incredible video archive as widely available and accessible as possible.
Formatting the weekly Amor Mundi newsletter.
Maintaining parts of the Arendt Center Website through Bard’s Web Builder Tools.
Our Media Coordinator is expected to demonstrate a strong familiarity and/or comfort level with the following:
Working independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication skills
WordPress, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop (or similar)
Social media savvy (Twitter, Facebook, and Hootsuite)
Text and video editing
Our preferred candidate will also possess the following:
Working knowledge of Constant Contact
Some graphic design and filming experience
This position is half-time, and much of the duties can be performed from any location with a reliable web connection. Residence within commuting distance of Bard College is desired, but not absolutely necessary-residence in or around NYC is fully possible. The candidate will be expected to be on Bard’s Annandale campus for special events like our Annual Conference.
