Media Studies Student Receives Grant from American Academy of Religion

Media Studies MA student, Sarah McFarland Taylor, has received an Individual Research grant from the American Academy of Religion to fund her project, “Mediating Eco-Piety: Television, Environmental Moral Engagement, and Popular Culture.” In this project, Taylor investigates and analyzes the initiation, composition, historical production, and mass communication of moral messages about the environment in 1970s televised series, specials, and public service announcements, with particular attention paid to the production and content choices in 1970s children’s programs. The research grant funds archival work at the Paley Media Center in New York.
