Call for videographer – LGBTQ oral history project (PAID)
The Brooklyn Community Pride Center (BCPC), in collaboration with Immigration Equality, is currently seeking applications from qualified videographers to join our team as we launch the pilot of the “LGBTQ NEW AMERICANS” – Oral History Project. We are seeking a committed professional to film 2 hour interviews with our registered participants, as well as provide edited versions of these videos and their accompanying audio files. These materials will be housed at BCPC and at archives across the country and made accessible to researchers as part of the LGBTQ historical record in the United States.
Applicants must be available from 10am-6pm May 14-15; May 20-22 and May 27-29 to film the interviews, and must provide agreed upon deliverables by June 3, 2016. The individual chosen will be hired as an independent contractor and will be paid a project fee of $1,750.00 upon completion of the project and submission of all deliverables. This fee is inclusive of all interview and editing hours and is non-negotiable. The individual hired for this position should own or have access to the required equipment needed to execute this project as there is no budget available for equipment rentals. Due to the fact that this material will be distributed widely and across various platforms, the videographer will be required to sign a release form relinquishing all claims of copyright to this work.
Deadline to apply for consideration is 5:00pm on Friday, May 6, 2016.
Application review and interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
Applicants should prepare to submit a cover letter, resume, and at least 2 work samples (or a link to projects/portfolios). Cover letters should detail your filmmaking experience, technical skills, and interest in working on this project specifically.
Please email materials to:
