ENTER THE SYMPHONIC STORYBOARD FILM COMPETITION
The Philharmonia Orchestra of New York (PONY) is a new orchestra made up of musicians who play with the top Lincoln Center ensembles. We have launched a film competition to find a film student who will create a new film to be screen at PONY’s upcoming concerts next spring. Please see the attached flyer for the details of our competition.
The winner of our competition will be commissioned to create a 10-13 minute film to accompany a piece of music by Richard Wagner that the orchestra will perform live at Rose Theater and City Center in spring 2017. We will be offering a stipend to the winners to produce their films at a professional level.
This is a great opportunity for a New School student to produce a film and present it at a high profile venue in association with a major orchestra.
Lots of orchestras today are playing film scores as a way to attract new audiences. None that we know of are sponsoring competitions to create original films to accompany classical music. Considerable press attention is expected to be generated around this initiative.
