Documentary Post Production & Outreach Internship
Seeking intern to work on a feature-length independent documentary film titled ASK THE SEXPERT. The film profiles a 92-year-old sex advice columnist who gains popularity against the backdrop of a ban on comprehensive sex-education in schools in several states in India. ASK THE SEXPERT premiered at Hot Docs 2017 and is beginning its festival run. Additionally, we are creating a TV cutdown and expect this to air on PBS in 2018.
DATES: Hiring May / June for summer 2017. We ask that our interns commit at least 2-3 days a week for at least 3 months.
COMPENSATION: Academic credit (if requested) and a small stipend can be provided
The film is directed by Vaishali Sinha whose prior film MADE IN INDIA (about the personal stories behind the phenomenon of “outsourcing” surrogates to India) premiered as a festival favorite at Hot Docs Film Festival, aired on PBS in 2012, and is currently a case study at Harvard Business School for their class on ethics.
Intern will work in the Brooklyn office alongside director & editor. Primary tasks related to outreach will entail coordinating with film festival, and assisting execution of outreach and distribution plans. Additional tasks related to the creation of our television version involve research, logging video footage, creating cue sheets and other television deliverables, and other post production tasks.
Ideal candidates would have an arts and film background, strong organizational and research skills, and be willing to complete a variety of tasks including occasional office jobs and making deliveries. Adobe Premiere skills would be a plus.
Applicants *might* have the opportunity to develop assistant editing skills over the next few months. Applicants should be detail-oriented, consistent with follow-through and should be able to work independently.
