Arna’s Children Screening w/Prof. Nitin Sawhney Mon.,June 12
Rare Public Screening of Arna’s Children
Monday June 12
Verso Books, Suite 1010
popcorn and beer!
The award-winning film chronicles the lives of children of the Jenin Camp from the First Intifada through the Second. Raising questions about violence, art and the role of resistance, this film remains a must-see for those interested in Palestine.
Following the screening, Carmen Perez, co-founder of the Justice League NY and a convener of the Women’s March, and Riham Barghouti of Adalah-NY: the NY Campaign for the Boycott of Israel, will reflect on what resistance looks like in this moment, with a focus on connections between people of color in the US and Palestine. Prof. Nitin Sawhney, filmmaker, founder of Voices Beyond Walls and Assistant Professor in the School of Media Studies at The New School, will introduce the film and moderate the post-film discussion.
