2017-18 Research Assistant / Documentary Film Editor
Marcus Turner Assistant Professor of Filmmaking in the School of Media Studies is looking for a Research Assistant to serve as Editor/Post Production Supervisor on the documentary film “Teacher Confidential”. This is a paid position.
“Teacher Confidential is a film exploring the future of public education. It’s an honest appraisal of the effects poverty and racial inequities are having in the classroom and the challenge this presents for public education’s survival.
The film has a modular design and the RA will create the segments that will eventually form the feature film. Most of the photography is complete but there is more to be shot. The RA may also help in some production activities but will mostly work in the post production process.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about education, creative, disciplined and will have an interest in documentary film and experience in editing. S/he will understand the nature of documentary films and will enjoy the process of creating cinema from unscripted moments or scenarios. S/he should be proficient in the NLE of choice and be able to provide samples on their work for my preview.
