SENS-UAW Town Hall Meeting today Tuesday the 29th, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM
SENS-UAW, the union of New School student academic workers, has just been officially certified, after winning a democratic vote of student workers by 99.6%! In the coming weeks, rank and file members of the union (any students working in academic or teaching positions) will get to work together to win their first contract, which can play a huge role in improving wages and working conditions at the school.
As a first step, students should fill out the bargaining survey to let the union know what issues they want to be prioritized in a contract. Students should also come to the Town Hall Meeting today Tuesday the 29th, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Social Justice Hub.
Over pizza, folks will get the chance to learn about the upcoming campaign for a contract and how they can get involved. If you are a student worker, or have been one, or will be, it’s really important to come out and make your voice heard, so the union can fight for the things that are important to you! Also, it will be a great chance to meet other union members from across the school and to learn how as a union member you can be involved in struggles for justice at the New School and across the city.
Follow SENS-UAW on Facebook, stay tuned for email updates, and more importantly, come out to a meeting and help organize!
