The New York Times Travel desk is launching a residency for emerging journalists
The New York Times Travel desk is launching a residency for emerging journalists who want to cover the world’s undiscovered and offbeat communities. With the support of the Véa brand, the latest snack portfolio from Mondelēz International that delivers real ingredients in unique combinations crafted from globally-inspired recipes, The Times will give up-and-coming journalists the opportunity to become Times contributors, and travel the country and the world for their reporting. Residents will share their stories in multiple formats, including social platforms like Instagram and Snapchat.
The Times is looking for creative and curious storytellers who are interested in the areas of journalism, travel, the arts, culture and food. Residents will be encouraged to be adventurous and to experiment with new forms of media. Interested applicants can apply at nytimes.com/surfacing. Content created by residents will appear on its own dedicated hub within the Travel section on NYTimes.com starting in December 2017.
