New Zealand’s Aotearoa Short Film Lab – Deadline Dec. 14
Aotearoa Short Film Lab is New Zealand’s most prestigious hothouse mentoring scheme for screenwriters and aspiring screenwriters to workshop new short film ideas.
Submissions close on Thursday 14 December 2017.
The Lab will offer six local (NZ) and two international short film makers the opportunity to develop their short film concepts and scripts under guidance from talented industry mentors.The Lab includes a full-day workshop, and follow-up sessions with one of the mentors who will guide each participant through the development of their script. The mentors in previous years have included: Shuchi Kothari, Michael Bennett, Jake Mahaffy, Zia Mandviwalla, Jackie van Beek, Dustin Feneley and Emily Anderton.

The Lab is free to attend for all selected applicants, but there is a NZ$20 application fee.
This year’s Show Me Shorts Best Actor award went to Baby?, a short film developed at the lab. The shorts Zinzan and Tree were also projects that came through the lab, and are featured in this year’s programme.
