Internship Opportunity at Cinema Tropical

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY AT CINEMA TROPICAL
Cinema Tropical, a non-profit organization dedicated to the programming, promotion and distribution of Latin American cinema in the United States, is seeking a candidate to our Spring internship program at our office in downtown Manhattan.
Founded in 2001 with the mission of distributing, programming and promoting what was to become the biggest boom of Latin American cinema in decades, Cinema Tropical brought U.S. audiences some of the first screening of films such as Amores Perros and Y Tu Mamá También. Through a diversity of programs and initiatives, Cinema Tropical is thriving as a dynamic and groundbreaking organization experimenting in the creation of better and more effective strategies for the distribution and exhibition of foreign cinema in this country. They have organized film series with MoMI, Film Forum, MoMA, Film Society and many others in the past.
The ideal candidate is either a upperclassman or master student interested to be in close contact with Latin American cinema and to learn all aspects of independent film promotion and distribution.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Research Latin American events in NY and LA for our weekly newsletter;
• Assist with publicity campaigns with organization and public outreach;
• Organize press clippings and media coverage reports;
• Assist with day-to-day office duties.

Qualifications: Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is a must, and an interest in Latin American cinema is preferred. Previous experience in office environment is a plus.

This is an unpaid internship that count towards college credits as part of experiential learning coursework. They request a minimum of a weekly 15-hour commitment.
