Professor Shannon Mattern’s article on Silicon Valley furnishings and the environments of digital labor, which was published last year in e-flux, was translated into Italian and published in Progetto Grafico, a leading design culture magazine. Meanwhile, her recent article on hardware stores as social infrastructures and sites of world-making has been translated in to German and published in dérive, a Vienna-based journal. In addition, Shannon will be one of three featured speakers at the “Convening on the Commons,” a public event associated with the Queens International exhibition at the Queens Museum on October 13. And on October 19, she’ll be delivering the annual Sherrer Lecture, “Local Codes: Forms of Spatial Knowledge,” at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR.
