First Call for East Java International Film Festival

This is the First Call to the East Java International Film Festival. The price is still at the lowest rate.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

East Java is the home of Mount Bromo, well known as the place for best sunrise in the world. Filmmakers can reach this wonderful place with cars.

It is also the place with patriotic and historical stories, back to the 12th century. The regions give birth to many heroes. One of the heroes whose ideas is still speaking loud until nowadays is the great Gajah Mada. It has shaped the old version of Nusantara that is the forerunner of our country now.

The visions and courage of the great prime minister Gajah Mada had left a remarkable track about visionary, unity, courage, bravery, and profound spiritualism.

Many heroes had led characters that the Festival is trying to burn the good old value into the young and old generation of Indonesia, as well as the international people. The Festival wishes to enliven the spirits again the work of art through art and filmmaking.

East Java International Film Festival welcomes all filmmakers, newcomers, and students to do their best, to star, and to change the world through the work of arts and films.

GUIDELINES SUBMISSION

They are searching for film and documentaries about heroes and heroine, courage, visionary, spiritual, tradition, art, culture, literature, fable, ancient stories, ancient kingdoms, war, and touching films about humbleness, kindness, and inspirational films and documentaries.

They are eager to see films made with passion, with the best cinematography, revealing the art of filmmaking, and carrying a heartfelt mission, a clear goal, a striking truth, and films and documentaries that have strong stories.

International movies with various spoken language are welcomed but must be added with English subtitles.

International Feature Film: Feature-length narratives with a minimum running time of 60 minutes.

International Short Film: Short narratives films with a run time of 59 minutes and below.

Documentary Feature: Documentaries with a minimum running time of 60 minutes.

Documentary Short: Runtime of 59 minutes and below

Newcomer: They are welcoming newcomers to the movie industry. The film director must state that the movie is his or her third movie (or under) on his/her application.

Animation: Any technique of animation, with a maximum duration of 125 minutes.

Music & Video: Music videos under 6 minutes in length

Art & Performances: Theatrical performances, drama, pantomime, art performances, opera, dance, and art exhibition (recorded)

Production Categories of Choice: Choose ONE of the specific category such as directing/cinematography/editing/story/acting/sound/production design/costume design/music/costumes, etc.

 

FESTIVAL EVENTS

Awards Ceremony will be held and hosted in Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia. Kings and queens from Nusantara are invited. The festival will also be featuring screenings, film-making workshops, and a special meet-and-greet with the king.

Besides the formal and exquisite Event, winning filmmakers would be bathed by the most beautiful sunrise of the Mount Bromo, that sits in the middle of a brownish dessert look-alike called the “Sea of Sand”, after an adventure of once-in-a-lifetime in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. An enjoyable moment  will be presented in a journey of leisure, in the friendly chilly hill of Batu surrounded by three mountains. The trip will give a relaxed atmosphere while doing the lazy excursion and chitchatting about the world of filmmaking at the various local amusement.

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

The festival will be held in January 2019. East Java International Film Festival will give awards for Overall Winner, the Platinum Star of East Java Award, and special jury awards (if necessary). All accepted filmmakers are honored at the Awards Ceremony. During the Ceremony, the overall winner will receive an exquisite statue.
