Rooftop Films Spring Programming Internship (January- May)

Interns will work closely with members of the programming team to assist in the pre-screening and rating of film submissions, and will participate in almost every process of the programming process. Interns will also assist with the general operations of Rooftop Films off-season programs and preparation for the Summer Series, including fundraising, marketing and outreach, organizing of off-season screenings and general office and festival work.

Candidates must have excellent organizational and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for film criticism and/or curation. This internship is an excellent opportunity to participate in the programming process of Rooftop Films and a great way to learn the inner workings of a film festival. We welcome undergraduate and graduate students (a passion for film is a must – film production / film studies experience is a plus).

Requirements: Candidates should have good experience working with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), Google Docs, and experience with HTML, Airtable, design programs or video editing software is a plus. Interns would be expected to average at least two days a week in the office, but generally the more time that can be committed, the better.

Please note: our offices are on the border of Park Slope and Gowanus, near the R, F and G trains in Brooklyn. Our address is 232 3rd St Suite E-106 Brooklyn NY 11215.

Primary internship tasks will include:

+ Tracking and requesting new independent films

+ Organizing and maintaining film databases

+ Pre-screening film festival submissions

+ Contacting and corresponding with filmmakers

+ Organizing off-season film screenings

+ Writing: including the Rooftop blog, social media, press releases and website content

+ General office work

+ Anything else you might be interested in-we want you to see how we work

At this time, it is not a paid internship. To apply please send a cover letter, resume and references to: intern@rooftopfilms.com. Please include “Spring Programming Internship” in the subject line of your email. Applications are due no later than December 28th, 2018.
