MAYA MONTANEZ SMUKLER’s new book, Liberating Hollywood: Women Directors & the Feminist Reform (Rutgers Univ. Press), celebrates women filmmakers working in and around Hollywood during the 1970s at the unique moment when second wave feminism challenged the film industry’s enduring culture of sexism. UCLA Film & Television Archive hosts a book launch/film series celebrating these filmmakers January 25-February 23, 2019 at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
