The Images Research Forum is an educational initiative that takes place during the 32nd edition of Images Festival. Understanding the need to support the creation and dissemination of critical thinking and dialogue, Images Festival is inviting participants to explore contemporary moving image culture within the context of the festival and with mentorship from leading international curators, artists, and researchers in the field.

Participants will be expected to attend seminar meetings and tours with the seminar leader and invited festival guests, in addition to as many festival screenings and events as possible. Proposed schedule below.

The Forum will culminate with a workshop at Gallery TPW where participants will share their collective conversations and burgeoning research with the public.

Successful applicants will be engaged in contemporary moving image culture in their own practice, through art-making, writing, curating, or academic pursuits. The festival will select 8-10 applicants to take part in the seminar. Indigenous peoples, Black people, people of colour, women, queer, trans, and gender non-conforming people are encouraged to apply.

Participants will receive a $100 honorarium and a pass to attend the entire 2019 Images Festival. Accommodations will be provided for participants based outside of Toronto. Please note that participants coming from outside of Toronto are responsible for their own travel.
