TNS Faculty Member Neyda Martinez Garners Funds for Alumna Luz Marina Zamora’s Documentary

TNS Media Management, Visiting Professor and Producer, Neyda Martinez, Garners Funding from Mayor’s Office Inaugural “Made in NY” Women’s  Film, TV & Theatre  Fund Awarded to Documentary Filmmaker and TNS Alum, Luz Marina Zamora

On Tuesday, February 28th, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment Acting Commissioner (MOME), Anne del Castillo. announced the first round of grant recipients of the “Made in NY” Women’s Film, TV & Theatre Fund.  Facilitated by Media Management Visiting Professor, Neyda Martinez, TNS alum, Luz Marina Zamora’s film, El Retorno/The Return (a feature-length documentary project emanating from her TNS thesis short film, De Colores) was one of eleven documentary projects awarded. This is the first round of a $5 million, three-year program funded by MOME and administered by New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). A total of 544 competitive applications were received and evaluated by esteemed panels of industry experts. Funds were awarded to a select group of 63 film, TV, theatre and digital media projects made by creative entrepreneurs who identify as women.”By making significant investments in women-led projects, the Women’s Fund seeks to increase the pipeline of female-identified creatives in front of and behind the camera, and on stage,” said Media and Entertainment Acting Commissioner Anne del Castillo. “The 63 projects receiving this first round of grants portray the complexity and variety of human experience as told by an incredibly diverse group of women. This milestone affirms New York City’s commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry.”
