SMS Alum Paola Cossermelli-Messina accepted to Columbia’s PhD in Ethnomusicology Program

Paola Cossermelli-Messina, Media Studies ’16, has applied to and has been accepted into the PhD program in Ethnomusicology at Columbia University. This after winning the Middle Eastern Studies Graduate Student Award for her thesis “Reclaiming the Stage: Oral Histories of Iranian Women Musicians” which was supervised by Barry Salmon and Lauhona Ganguly.
Paola was one of 5 applicants accepted to the Ph.D. program this year which boasts a total enrollment of  around 15 students.
