The Eugene Lang College Dean’s Office is hiring a Graduate Student to manage a weekly Majors Showcase event for undergraduate students and to support the Code as a Liberal Art initiative. The graduate student assistant will also maintain office hours to assist with general office duties and provide support for curricular projects, including basic research and preparation of materials using Microsoft Office software and Google Suite. Requires availability from 3:45-6:00pm on Tuesdays; other hours are flexible and duties will vary based on projects and departmental needs.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Majors Showcase tasks:
- Check in Attendees
- Ensure proper set-up of computer and projector/manage transitions between speakers/troubleshoot presentations on-site during the event
- Collect student inquiries after the event
- Assist with management of assessment data as needed
Code as a Liberal Art tasks:
- Post, update, and proofread content on Code as a Liberal Art website
- Assist with communication, setup, and occasional on-site assistance for Code as a Liberal Art events
- Design posters for our Code events and new courses, as needed
- Occasionally disseminate posters around campus
- General assistance as special projects arise
General Office Assistance
- Research and prepare materials in support of curricular projects
- Compile, transform, and analyze data using Microsoft Excel or other appropriate tools
- Additional duties as assigned
Hours:
- 5-10 hours/week dependent on Federal Work Study Award
Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and organized, able to multitask
- Self-starter, able to work independently with little supervision
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Some social media experience (Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, etc) and WordPress a plus
- Polite with a great sense of humor
- Comfortable working with faculty
- Availability on Tuesdays from 3:45-6pm
- Experience with flyer design and Adobe Suite a plus
