Cinema Project Workshop – Call for Producers + Crew

CINEMA PROJECT WORKSHOP – CALL FOR PRODUCERS & CREW

The School of Drama offers the Cinema Project Workshop course each Spring – an interdepartmental intensive workshop in short filmmaking. Applications are now open for students to apply for roles as key collaborators on 5 short narrative films.
The Cinema Project Workshop course, now in its 8th year, has produced 30 short films involving 300+ Drama and Media Studies students. The films are short narrative films written by the 3rd MFA Drama Playwrights, directed by 3rd MFA Drama Directors and starring all of the 3rd Year MFA Drama Actors.
1st and 2nd Year MA Media Studies students apply to collaborate on the films as Producers, Cinematographers, Editors, First Assistant Directors, Sound Recordists, Art Directors and other film production roles. MFA and BFA Jazz and Mannes students apply to compose soundtracks for the short films.
During the Spring semester, the class meets weekly on Tuesday morning in Arnhold Hall to plan, produce and review edits of the films. Student production teams also meet outside of class hours to plan, rehearse, produce, edit and finish the films throughout the Spring semester.
Online applications will be accepted through early January. Selected students will be interviewed by faculty and meet with MFA Drama collaborators. Acceptance into the workshop will be confirmed no later than January 15, 2020. Visit the course website for details on available positions — seats will be filled on a rolling basis lead up to the start of the Spring semester.
Regarding Credits: Students register for credits on a case-by-case basis up to 4 credits. There is flexibility for students interested in auditing the course to gain experience in production support roles (1st AD, 1st AC, PA)
