First Gen Graduate Student Happy Hour
Friday, November 8, is National First-Gen Day! This event was created in 2017 by the Council for Opportunity in Education and the Center for First-Generation Student Success to recognize and celebrate first-generation college students. November 8 was selected in honor of the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which supported programs to help potential first-generation students access and complete a college education. 2019 will be The New School’s second year to #CelebrateFirstGen.
We are kicking off the reception with a first gen happy hour for grad students who identify as first gen. Please share with your student populations (flyer attached). You’re more than welcomed to join yourself! The happy hour will be followed by a panel discussion with first gen professionals. More information on how to RSVP for both events are on the flyer.
