11/22 Screening: Calle K

OLA and the School of Media Studies are pleased to present: ‘CALLE K’, a documentary by Titus Fossgard-Moser and Caroline Moser

Documentary NYC Premiere

‘Calle K’ (2019) presents the transformation over 40 years of an illegal squatter settlement in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The film includes footage from ‘People of the Barrio’, a 1980 documentary that portrayed the struggles of the Indio Guayas community to negotiate access to basic physical and social infrastructure. In 2018, Fossgard and Moser (son and mother) go back to the slum in which they lived 40 years ago and show, not only the physical transformation of the barrio from a peripheral slum to a consolidated settlement, but also the stories of three of the families.

Discussion with filmmakers:

Titus Fossgard-Moser, Director

Caroline Moser, Social Anthropologist
