NEW Staff Profile: Christelle Petit-Homme
On Behalf Of The School Of Media Studies here at The New School, we’d like to welcome Christelle Petit-Homme who joins us as the Assistant Director of Student Affairs.
To welcome her to The New School, we asked Christelle a few questions. Join us in welcoming Christelle to The New School! #100YearsNew
Q: Can you tell us a little about your background and what you are looking forward to doing in this new role?
A: I hold a BA in Theology from St. John’s University and a MSEd in Higher Education Administration from Baruch College. Prior to joining The New School, I served as International Academic Advisor at Pace University’s Lubin School of Business and Director of Admissions at Touro College’s School of Health Sciences. I have over ten years of experience supporting students in multiple areas of higher education including admissions, first year experience, academic advising, and career counseling. I am most passionate about student engagement and student development. I am looking forward to providing The New School students with the guidance they need for meaningful learning and an overall positive student experience.
Q: We are celebrating our Centennial this year, can you tell us what drew you to New School?
A: I was really looking forward to working in an environment that encourages creativity and collaboration so I was immediately drawn to The New School’s vision to “be the preeminent intellectual and creative center for effective engagement”. I am excited to be apart of this community.
Q: As you’ll be working with students in this role, is there any advice you’d like to pass along to them?
A: Find opportunities to be engaged and build connections on campus. You may not have an opportunity like this again to be in a setting surrounded by like-minded individuals so be sure to not only network but also learn from your peers and accomplished faculty.
