JOB OPPORTUNITY: Media Management Program Assistant

Media Management Program Assistant

This is a unique opportunity to work with Michelle Materre, Director of the Media Management M.S. program in the School of Media Studies. She is a New School professor and accomplished media professional working in the business end of “the business”. Responsibilities in this position include: assisting the Director with departmental administrative duties; maintaining correspondence and databases; act as a liaison to students and faculty; screening new work for potential programming; coordinating social media postings; writing copy; staying current with daily industry newspapers, journals, television and magazines. Activities may also include assisting in the production of the periodic “Creatively Speaking Film Series” exhibition events, which can include contacting and booking potential guests. Program Assistant may also be involved in event planning for Industry insights panels, occasional programming and networking opportunities. Person in this position must be reliable, flexible, keenly responsible and willing and open to being involved with a “multi-tasker”. Skills needed include: excellent research, organizational and communication skills, being a keen “people person”, able to take direction as well as work independently as a self-starter. Also, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and some Graphic design skills required. Some hours will need to be performed during business hours on site in the Media Studies loft space. Other hours may be required remotely. You must be able to commit a minimum of 10-12 hours per week. This opportunity provides an excellent experience for someone interested in pursuing a career in the independent film industry in a non-production position.  Available to current New School students and is a paid position.
