This Week in Cinema Tropical, January 27- February 3

This week, escape the cold weather and warm up with some of the prime Latin American films screening in New York.

Tomorrow Tuesday, one of our summer favorites returns to the big screen: head over to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Downtown Brooklyn for a special screening of Lucio Castro‘s luscious and lustful End of the Century – crowned “the best gay film of the year” by IndieWire.

Keep the momentum going with the opening of Li Cheng‘s José, another gay romance centered on the experience of a young man navigating the edges of his heteronormative world, in this case Guatemala City. The film hits theaters this Friday at the Quad Cinema, with director Li Cheng in person for the opening weekend. For fans of some of the year’s best LGBTQ+ dramas, this is not to be missed.
