SMS Faculty Member, David Liberman was published in The International Journal of Communication

The International Journal of Communication has published an article School of Media Studies Faculty Member, David Liberman, co-wrote with American University Prof. Patricia Aufderheide titled “Podcasting as Public Media: The Future of U.S. News, Public Affairs, and Educational Podcasts.”  Also contributing, and listed as a co-writer, is Media Management student Jiji Majiri Ugboma. 

The article identifies a U.S.-based podcasting ecology as public media and then examines the threats to its future. They concluded that public podcasts maintain some immunity from the most immediate threats, but there are also underappreciated threats to it, both internally and externally.
