SMS Faculty Members Melissa Friedling and Amir Husak, were Invited to Present their Workshop: Re-Lens as part of Re-Fest 2020

Assistant Professor of Filmmaking, Melissa Friedling, together with Director of Graduate Certificate in Documentary Media Studies & Assistant Professor of Media Studies, Amir Husak,  were invited to present their workshop, Re-Lens:  Old Glass for New Eyes, as part of Re-Fest 2020, which took place March 12–14, 2020. The mission of Re-Fest is to bring artists, activists, and technologists together to explore our role in re-shaping the future. Fe-Fest is organized by CultureHub, a global art & technology community founded by SeoulArts & La MaMa and presented in New York in collaboration with Center for Constitutional Rights, NYU Interactive Telecommunications Program, and Magnum Foundation. With social distancing protocols just being enacted in early March, Re-Fest was moved entirely online in a dynamic and engaging format.  A recording of the workshop is available here, courtesy of CultureHub.  The Re-Lens workshop was originally developed in 2015 as part of the New School faculty and student initiative, Re/Lab:  The Re-emergent Media Research Lab, and with the support of a grant from the Provost Office’s Innovations in Education Fund.  Friedling will be offering a Re/Lab course in fall 2020.
