Cooper Leibner 2020 Virtual Fellowship, Center for Communication

Cooper Leibner 2020 Virtual Fellowship

The Center for Communication annually awards the Carole Cooper and Richard Leibner Fellowships to New York area female college juniors, seniors, or graduate students. This year our fellowships will be done remotely. Fellows will receive a generous stipend while interning at the Center for Communication during the fellowship period.

Students will have the opportunity to help plan and participate in our online career education forums featuring leading media creators and professionals. Our programs offer unparalleled opportunities to gain valuable career advice and build the networks you need to land a job and be successful in the media and entertainment business.

The fellowships are open to current students who will be enrolled within an undergraduate or graduate program in the Fall of 2020/Spring 2021 school year. The application deadline is Monday, September 7th.
THE POSITIONS:
The Center for Communication is looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic interns to fill two available roles for the 2020-2021 academic year. If you are not familiar already, we seriously encourage all applicants to familiarize themselves with the Center’s community, work and mission.

Social Media and Marketing Fellow
The Social Media and Marketing Fellow will help maintain the Center’s social media presence across platforms to help build our community and drive awareness to students, new graduates and professors. Strong social media skills across Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram are required. Additionally, this intern will also support program staff in the planning of our programs and must be available to work during our online forums and Career Summits.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • This person should be a self-starter, highly motivated, able to take direction and conscientious about deadlines
  • Strong editorial and research skills required
  • Collaborate on content development (event recaps, new project opportunities) and assist with current project management
  • Working familiarity with Squarespace, MailChimp, and Canva, highly desired
  • Intern will contribute to the promotion of our forums and Summits

Please email your résumé, a 300-word statement (not included in the body of the email) on why you’re the best person for this fellowship, and links to all relevant work in regards to writing and/or social media, to Foladé Bell at folade@centerforcommunication.org with the subject line: Cooper Leibner Social Media and Marketing Fellowship 2020.
Data Specialist Fellow
The Data Fellow will help the Center with a special project: setting up and customizing our new Customer Relationship Management system (CRM). The Center recently implemented a database, Kindful, to better track and organize information on our donors, program participants, and the students we serve. We have completed migrating our existing data into Kindful; we seek a student with a love for databases who can help us fully implement and customize this CRM.

The primary task of this fellowship is to help develop the methodology and processes for building out data on our student/recent grad community (demographics, engagement, outcomes). This will in turn help us serve our students better, and match them to available opportunities with our partner companies. The fellow will also help update contact information on key constituents.

We do not expect an advanced level of expertise and specific experience with Kindful; however, experience with a comparable system (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, Airtable, etc.) would be helpful. An array of tutorials and support features come with our Kindful subscription. Additionally, this intern will also support program staff in the planning of our programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • This person should be a self-starter, highly motivated, able to take direction and conscientious about deadlines.
  • Proficiency with implementing, customizing, and/or managing CRM systems is a plus. Proficiency with Google spreadsheets required.
  • Will help develop custom features in the Kindful CRM.
  • Will collaborate on development of surveys that will help us gather data and create standing reports within Kindful that will help us extract and analyze data sets.
  • Attention to detail and excellent project management skills are a must.

Please email your résumé, a 300-word statement (not included in the body of the email) on why you’re the best person for this fellowship to Erin Gromen at erin@centerforcommunication.org with the subject line: Cooper Leibner Data Fellowship 2020.
