Cinema Tropical, Brasil Summerfest & the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at NYU Present Music + Film: Brazil

Cinema Tropical announces the 2020 Edition of their popular series, Music+film: Brazil. Presented in collaboration with Brasil Summerfest and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at New York University, this year’s special online edition will take place from September 28 to October 5 on cinematropical.com.

This year’s lineup, programmed by Mary Jane Marcasiano, celebrates two of Brazil’s most iconic musicians as it features the North American premiere of Georges Gachot’s Where Are You, João Gilberto?, and the New York Premiere of Lula Buarque de Hollanda’s Gilberto Gil Anthology Volume 1. Both movies will be available to stream starting Tuesday, September 29 to audiences across the U.S.
Additionally, the virtual film series will also present a free, special tenth-anniversary screening of the ultimateBrazilian music documentary, Beyond Ipanema, on Monday, October 5. Live conversations with the directors and special guests will be held on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of October and will be available through Cinema Tropical’s Facebook page.
