Summary

The Director of Media & Communications will play an integral role on a collaborative team responsible for sharing the lifesaving work and mission of the ASPCA through the use of strategic communications and media relations. The Director will have responsibility for external communications around several key program areas and provide strategic communications guidance on other priority initiatives related to our mission. The role requires innovative, creative and critical thinking for how best to leverage and enhance communications through traditional media, as well as through a variety of other channels, including social media, and places strong emphasis on creating and implementing integrated communications plans where media outreach is a major element. The Director should be a skilled storyteller with a proven track record for conceiving, pitching and landing placements in leading national and regional print, broadcast and online media outlets. This role also serves a supervisory function and will manage and mentor direct reports to maximize team impact.
