Job Opportunity: Marketing and Communications Looking to Hire Students for Video Shoots
Team leads: Moran Dankner (Digital Content), Kelsey McKinnon (The New Store), Hanna Lauer (Marketing), Kelly Stewart (Digital Engagement)
Overview: Collaborate with teams across Marketing and Communications on a photo shoot to capture updated student life photos that will be used on The New School’s website, its social media platforms, and on The New Store’s website. In addition, we plan on going beyond just the photo shoot, and using the students involved to tell stories, both written and video, to accompany the photos on the various platforms. For a look into our ideas, check out our MoodBoard.
Goals for the content:Â
- Create updated digital content that works for our current COVID moment and that we can share across platforms
- Students/people wearing masks
- Students gathering outdoors while observing social distancing
- Students observing safety protocols while accessing campus (UC library, Making Center, Arnhold Hall, etc.)
- Create a new suite of photos that showcase students wearing new merchandise to use on The New Store website
- Use this shoot to showcase what student life in NYC looks like for students who may be nervous to return to the city for the Fall 2021 semester
- Capture photos of students doing “normal” New York things (eating lunch in the park, riding the subway, checking out books in the library, visiting a museum, etc.)
- Through additional storytelling, showcase student experiences in NYC during COVID
- Create potential “Day in the Life” type videos for select students

Forthcoming creative briefs:
- Commencement shoot to take place mid-April (similar setup to above)
- Commencement focused shoot will feature students wearing 2021 Commencement gear, to be used on Social Media + The New Store website leading up up graduation
- Create a “Behind the scenes” video from the shoot of students wearing Commencement merchandise to share on Instagram/TikTok
- Create mock diploma to showcase in diploma folders
- Day-in-the-life videos
- We’ll need to get the OK from students before we begin planning/shooting these, but the hope is if a few students from these shoots are interested, this will be a great place to begin gathering content.
