About the Fellowship
We grew up learning that love is a feeling. We watched it onscreen and heard about it in our favorite songs, but there’s so much we didn’t learn and were left to figure out on our own. One Love and The Allstate Foundation are teaming up to change that. Together they believe young filmmakers have the power to deepen the conversation about healthy relationships in classrooms across the country and help us all learn how to love better!
Three fellows will each receive a grant of $15,000 to produce their film, as well as master classes with top filmmakers, screenwriters, and producers to help bring their vision to life.
The purpose of this fellowship program is to uplift voices, especially in the context of healthy and unhealthy relationships. We welcome and encourage films with a focus on:
- Relationships that center around people of color and/or LGBTQ+ young people
- Stories that showcase how young men/masculine-identifying people experience romantic relationships and/or friendships
- Stories with language and/or religious diversity
- Stories where disabilities are represented
- Stories with socio-economic diversity
- Stories that represent rural or urban communities
Eligibility
This fellowship is open to people of color and/or LGTBQ+ filmmakers in the United States who are between the ages of 18 and 25 by the date of submission (April 30, 2021).
Applicants may apply as an individual (if the individual is the writer and director of the proposed project) or as a team. Teams may include up to three members. Teams must include at least one writer and one director. All applicants must be people of color and/or LGBTQ+. All fellows must commit to complete and deliver film by December 2021.
