SeriesFest is an award-winning festival dedicated to showcasing the best and boldest in episodic storytelling from around the world. At a time when television entertainment is expanding and evolving across multiple platforms, the need for a diverse range of programming is greater than ever. As trailblazers in independent content development, SeriesFest is a global marketplace and community for creators, industry professionals, and audiences to come together.
The annual SeriesFest takes place in Denver, Colorado – the birthplace of cable television. With opening night at Red Rocks Amphitheater and five full days of in-competition screenings, panels, and network sneak peaks and premieres, SeriesFest gives a platform for compelling and creative content while celebrating television history and engaging in meaningful dialogue.
In order to qualify, you must submit a 30-minute comedy pilot script (maximum 40 pages) by January 31, 2018.
Comedy
Comedy is defined as a program with a minimum of six episodes, where the majority of the running time is primarily comedic, in which the ongoing theme, storyline and main characters are presented under the same title and have continuity of production supervision.
Drama
Drama is defined as a program with a minimum of six episodes, where the majority of the running time is primarily dramatic, in which the ongoing theme, storyline and main characters are presented under the same title and have continuity of production supervision.
Limited Series
Limited Series is defined as programs of two or more episodes with a total running time of at least 150 program minutes that tell a complete, non-recurring story, and do not have an ongoing storyline and/or main characters in subsequent seasons.
Animated
All forms of animated programs that contain a significant percentage of computer-generated imagery and/or digital production.
Unscripted
Unscripted is defined as programs that document unscripted situations and actual occurrences including variety, documentary, reality and reality-competition series.
Half-hour Comedy Script Competition
The scripts entered into this competition must be pilot episodes for half-hour comedies, where the majority of the running time is primarily comedic. Entries must also include a Series bible, 3-15 pages – including Logline, Pilot Summary, Character Breakdown, and at least six future episode synopsis. *Please note that the Series Bible and Script should be submitted as one document with the Series Bible first followed by the Script.
Late Night
Late Night is defined as live action or animated programs with a total run time of 4-15 minutes featuring the strange, absurd, comedic, sketch, or “what the hell?” that can run as a mini series
or extended seasons.
Digital Short Series Competition
SeriesFest is looking to find and honor exciting new digital series of short form content. Selections will be featured in competition showcase during Season 4 which focuses on the possibilities for innovative storytelling in this rapidly expanding platform for serialized content. Creators are encouraged to submit up to 20 minutes of short form content in any genre.
