7:15 PM Social Justice Mixer Social Justice Committee Social Justice Hub Calling all justice-seekers, freedom-lovers, and those who want to make positive changes in the world! Whether you are an experienced social justice activist or are hearing talk of “social justice” for the first time and want to learn more, this is the event for you. We invite you to meet like-minded students, learn about organizations and resources at The New School that support social justice work and community activism, and brainstorm about events you would like to see in the coming year. Refreshments are served.

 

8/27 6:00:00 PM 8:00:00 PM SJC: Safe Zone LGBTQIAGNC student mixer Social Justice Committee (Queer Collective and Safe Zone) Starr Foundation and Event Cafe You’re queer! You’re in NYC! We want to help make sure it “gets better” or “stays great” for you as an LGBTQIAGNC student at The New School. Come meet other new students as we socialize, make friends, and learn about the many academic and social resources and opportunities available on our campus.
8/28 1:00 PM 4:00 PM On Campus Job Fair AACD/Undergraduate Careers Lobby and Lower Level UC The On-Campus Job Fair will provide New School students an opportunity to meet with departments seeking student workers. Students with federal work study are especially encouraged to attend. Event open to degree seeking students only. Once you register, you will receive an email with further instructions.
8/29 5:00 PM 7:00 PM La Xente Mixer Social Justice Committee (La Xente) Starr Foundation and Event Cafe La XENTE’s student mixer is for Latinx students at The New School; we connect while we mobilize, create community while supporting each. The Mixer is an opportunity to meet student leaders involved in the sanctuary movement and to strategize for the next year for all the issues that impact our lives.
8/29 7:00 PM 9:00 PM Students of Color Mixer Social Justice Committee (SOC) Starr Foundation and Event Cafe If you identify as a student of color (Black, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander American, Native American, and more), join us to learn about campus resources and groups (both academic and social), and stay for the laughter, joy, and support as we build community.
8/30 4:30 PM 7:30 PM University Block Party SLI 13th Street (outdoors) Join students, faculty, and staff for free food and activities including art, live performances, and student organization tables. Bring your newcard (your New School ID).
8/31 12:00 PM 2:30 PM The Struggle is Real: Resources for Low Income Students Social Justice Committee Starr Foundation and Event Cafe Get financial tips for stretching your budget, resources to assist in budgeting, saving money, living and sustaining yourself at The New School & in NYC. Lunch with us as you ask questions and hear from fellow New School students who have found ways to make the most of a limited budget.
