Documentary Studies Certificate Program Alumna, Joy Ernanny’s documentary screened in Rio de Janeiro
“Unveil”, a short documentary by Joy Ernanny (Doc Studies’18) was shown in Brazil at Rio de Janeiro’s Jewish Cultural Center on December 10 for over 70 people. The film, about the first female-only beauty salon for Muslim women in New York, was received with a lot of enthusiasm by a multireligious audience, that not only included Jewish, but also Muslim and Christian attendees. After the screening, Joy participated in a panel about hair covering traditions in different religions, alongisde Professor Monique Sochaczewski -a reknown Middle East historian- and Leila Sterenberg, a journalist who covers international affairs.Â
