Critical Themes is a student run conference that operates under the guidance of a member of the faculty. The annual Media Studies student conference provides a distinguished forum for graduate students from the Media Studies MA program, The New School, and around the world to present original scholarship on media studies and society.

The online journal Immediacy is designed to capture the spirit of media studies at The New School. It explores the ever-expanding landscapes of media in our society and around the world and provides a venue for artistic and scholarly media projects by graduate students in the School of Media Studies. Immediacy is based on the idea that theory and practice are a unity, that we think and learn by creating as well as critiquing, by giving as well as receiving responses.
